Sawyer Rose | Force of Nature, Tracy
Presented by CK Contemporary and the Northern California Women’s Caucus for Art
Location: Main Floor
The current series from The Carrying Stones Project is called Force of Nature: Women's Work Visualized. In this series, real-life work data is collected from a diverse group of women using a custom-built app where participants can record their paid and unpaid labor, hour by hour. Each woman’s data is then mapped into a large-scale data visualization sculpture that abstracts and encodes her labor hours in a form that is both aesthetically remarkable and fully readable as a graphic. Each sculpture, in material and composition, reflects the personality of the woman it is built for.
